I have been journaling & painting loads, I love this quote. I have heard something similar about give me a child until he's seven & I''l show you the man. This is put better though I think. 'It is easier to build strong children than to repair a broken man/woman' I think of the times I was called a 'Dummy/Stupid' as a child and it still effects me even now. Hence, the little boy with the hat on (I didn't want to put a D for dummy/dunce on even now) because I truly believe all children are wise and it is for us to nurture and show them how truly wonderful they are and what they can become.
I am linking this to PPF & Art Journal Journey. Have a wonderful weekend and show any children you meet how precious they are, even if it's just a big smile you give to the kids in the shops. Love Dawn xx

Fantastic quote and wonderful illustration in your journal page. It's so hard, the way that things thoughtless people say can stick with us. And then we have to unlearn what we were told. Cheers to you!
Thoughtlessness is rampant...words are powerful and it's amazing how they affect us. Children are wise and we have much to learn from them. Happy PPF
Love that quote and your journal page quite awesome. Love the little boy who is all about letting one know that he is wise and not to be reckoned with. Great job!
Awesome page!
Great quote and gorgeous journal spread!
Beautiful work, reminds me of this poem:
If a child lives with criticism,
he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
he learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world
So true! As a vicar's wife I see so many people affected by careless words directed at them as children. How necessary it is to build our children up and help them to know how precious and unique they are.
that´s just wonderful DAWN!
Yes, Dawn, you're absolutely right!!! Wonderful!

Oh dear lady we are of the same heart! I revere children and their natural spirit... I believe them to be smart and wise and everything wonderful wrapped into a pretty bow....until words damage them!!
I am sorry for any hurt that words caused you over the years, because I know from this post alone that you are truly an amazing woman, full of love and a great heart!!
I agree with this quote...beautiful thoughtful piece of art!!
Stupid was a swear word in my home when I was growing up!

Welcome to PPF. I do like this piece you have created. Children are wise if only people would listen.
